Glenn Mathijssen was born in Merksem, Belgium in 1989 and raised in Essen. He received the degree in the study of Mechanical Engineering at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) in 2012. The focus of his research is the novel compliant actuator: the Series-Parallel Elastic Actuator.
