Cis De Maesschalck received a Bachelors degree in Mechanical - Electrotechnical Engineering (2009) and a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering (2011) from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. After completing his Master thesis in cooperation with the von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics, he pursued there a Master-after-Master program in the field of Turbomachinery and Propulsion. Since 2012, he embarked on a Phd, conducting a combined numerical and experimental gas turbine research towards the Design, Analysis, Optimization and Control of Rotor Tip Flows. This project, under the guidance of prof. C. Lacor and prof. G. Paniagua, is performed at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and von Karman Institute thanks to a grant from the of the Agency for Innovation by Science and Technology (IWT). Currently, hes continuing his research in cooperation with Purdue University (United States) with the support of Fulbright Belgium and the Belgian American Educational Foundation (B.A.E.F.).
