Dr. ir. Mohsen Omidi is a researcher at the Robotics and Multibody Mechanics Research Group (BruBotics) of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in collaboration with imec. In 2013, he achieved first place in the Rescue Robots League of the worldwide RoboCup competition. He received his M.Sc. degree in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics.

His doctoral research focuses on human-robot collaboration and interaction, with a particular emphasis on extended reality (XR) technologies to improve ergonomics, safety, and trust in collaborative settings. His research interests include human-robot interaction and collaboration, human factors and ergonomics, collaborative robots (cobots), and the use of augmented and virtual reality in robotics.

Specifically, his work explores

  • Safe and ergonomic physical human-robot interaction
  • Communication methods between humans and robots
  • Augmented cognition and XR-based interfaces
  • Psychological and physiological factors such as stress, trust, and perceived safety in human-robot collaboration
