Biography

Dr. ir. Gabriël Van De Velde was born in Belgium in 1992. He received the degree in the study of Mechanical Engineering at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in 2016 with greatest distinction. His work, entitled ‘Design and Control of a Robotic Mouth’, led him to be finalist of IE-prijzen 2016 and the Agoriaprijs 2016.

Since Septembre 2016 he was researcher at the VUB, supported by the Fund for Scientific Research Flanders (FWO), in collaboration with Atlas Copco Airpower, under supervision of prof.dr.ir P. Guillaume.

In January 2022 he received the title of PhD in Engineering Sciences, entitled "Chasing Microns in Rotor Dynamics: An alternative take on the Automatic Ball Balancer". (See Publications).

Starting of January 2022, he is appointed as Technical Expert at the VUB in the R&MM research group, where he advises and supports researchers regarding design methodology, conducting experiments and result analysis.
