WP7: Ethics of child-robot interaction
The project will focus on the following ethical issues associated with child-robot interaction. All are related to the
problem of trust and its relation to appearance:
- Does the design comply with existing laws and regulations?
- Does the robot achieve its therapeutic aim, that is, can the therapist trust that the robot will actually contribute
to the treatment of the child’s autism?
- How autonomous should the robot be, given problems regarding trust and responsibility?
- What are the implications of the child-robot interaction for trust (by the therapist, the child, the designer, the
operator, and the parents)?
